Thanks for visiting. Just a little background on the blog: I started this blog as a diamond peer teacher for a course on Korean media and popular culture at Temple University. I wanted to provide another opportunity and a varying format for students to participate and engage in the class. Sometimes it is difficult to comment or discuss a topic in class, and some students prefer the medium of writing.
From there I wanted to continue writing on interesting topics related to media and cultural diplomacy, so this is my recent attempt to revive the blog. They will most likely be short and sweet questions and/or commentary on topics related to media, culture, soft power specifically in the realm of the Hallyu and Korean culture. If you have anything you want to suggest or see something you feel worth writing about, please feel free to comment or reach out to me.
Thanks again for visiting. The previous class instructions are below, and please feel free to engage, I would love comments and questions.
The class previous instructions
Hey everyone,
Thanks for visiting. A few things to note:
1) Be respectful of other people's opinions. I am not trying to pick apart other people's arguments or call you out, so please do the same for me and everyone else.
2) While being respectful, please be honest about your opinions. WE want to know what you think and where you come from.
2) In other to get discussion points, do not only post "yes I agree" or "no you are wrong". I expect some sort of analysis or a reason why you agree/disagree. In other words, bring something to the argument and be an active participant.
3) You do not need to talk about each discussion point. If you see something that peaks your interest or one part that you want to talk about, feel free. If you want to do all, that's great too.
4) I will try to briefly post my own perspective at the end of each discussion to tell you where I am coming from.
Lastly, if you have any questions feel free to contact me, and if you have more private issues or concerns, see my office hours or email me (joycey.kang@gmail.com). I check my email a lot, and I will try to get back to you in a timely fashion.
Thanks and happy writing~!
Joyce
